Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 September 2026
This policy explains what the AnglerDex app (the "App") collects, why, and what you can do about it. AnglerDex is provided by Noesis Trading Co. Ltd, trading as AnglerDex ("we", "us"). We're the data controller under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Your logbook
The catches you log, with their photos, weights, lengths, dates, notes, bait, tackle, saved places and positions, are stored on your device. If you have an account, we also keep a private backup of your logbook and photos in it, so it comes back when you sign in on a new phone. Only you can see that backup. Without an account, your logbook lives only on your phone, and if you delete the App it goes with it.
2. What we collect
- Account details. Your email address and a securely hashed password, or, if you sign in with Apple or Google, the account identifier and email address they share with us.
- Your public angler profile. Your display name, username, profile photo, country, the number of species you've caught, your heaviest and longest catch with their photos, and your catch photos with species, weight, length and date. Other anglers can see your profile once you have an account. You can take yourself out of the leaderboard rankings in Settings; your profile stays visible.
- What you post. Comments, reactions, the anglers you follow, and any reports or blocks you make.
- Photos you identify. When you ask the App to identify a fish, the photo is sent for identification and not kept. The suggestions are kept for up to a day, so they still reach you if you leave the App before they arrive, and we record that an identification happened, to apply the limits.
- Your logbook backup. If you have an account, a private copy of your logbook and photos, as described in section 1.
- Notifications. If you allow notifications, a notification token for your device, so we can tell you when an angler you follow posts a catch or the leaderboard changes. It's removed when you sign out or delete your account.
- Purchases. Whether you have an active subscription. Payment is handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play, and we never see your card details.
- Usage and diagnostics. Which screens and features are used, your device type and operating system, and crash reports, so we can fix problems and improve the App.
- Messages to us. Anything you send to support.
3. Your location
The App reads your position only when you tap to use it while logging a catch. The position is saved with that catch on your device. We never publish where you fish: your public profile shows your country, never a place or a position.
4. Photos and your photo library
With your permission, the App uses your camera and photo library so you can add catch photos, and saves photos you take in the App to your library. Photos you add to your public profile are stored on our servers and shown to other anglers. Every published photo, name and comment is checked automatically, and anything that breaks our rules, or a photo that doesn't show a fish, isn't shown to anyone else.
5. How we use your information
- To run the App: your account, identification, leaderboards, profiles, comments and following
- To send account emails, such as confirming your address or signing you in
- To manage your subscription
- To keep the App safe: checking what's published, acting on reports, and preventing abuse
- To understand how the App is used, fix crashes and improve it
- To measure how well our advertising works (see section 7)
6. Legal bases
- Contract: to provide the App and the features you use
- Consent: for location, camera, photo library, notifications and, on iOS, advertising measurement. You can withdraw consent at any time in your device settings
- Legitimate interests: to keep the App secure, moderate public content and improve the service
- Legal obligation: where the law requires us to keep or share information
7. Who we share it with
We use these providers to run the App. Each handles data only to provide its service to us:
- Supabase: accounts, sign-in and storage of public profiles and photos
- OpenAI: identifying fish from photos, and checking published names, comments and photos
- Brevo: sending account emails
- RevenueCat: managing subscriptions
- Apple and Google: payments, sign-in if you use it, app distribution and maps
- PostHog: usage analytics
- Sentry: crash and error reports
- Meta: measuring which of our ads lead to installs and subscriptions, using your device's advertising identifier and in-app events. On iOS we ask first, and you can switch this off at any time in your device settings
Other anglers can see your public profile, gallery, comments and reactions. We don't sell your personal information.
8. International transfers
Some providers are based outside the UK, including in the United States. Where data leaves the UK, we rely on safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. How long we keep it
We keep your account and public profile for as long as your account exists. Photos sent for identification aren't kept. When you delete your account, we delete your account, profile, photos, comments, reactions and follows from our servers. Backups are cleared within 30 days. We keep only records the law requires, such as basic purchase records.
10. Deleting your account
In the App, go to Profile, then Settings, then Delete account. You can also email support@anglerdex.app from your account's email address. More at anglerdex.app/delete.
11. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete or move your data, or to restrict or object to how we use it. Email support@anglerdex.app. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. If you're in the United States, Canada, Australia or Ireland, you have the same rights with us, and any further rights your local law gives you.
12. Children
AnglerDex isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.
13. Security
We protect your information with access controls, encryption in transit and limits on who can see what. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours safe.
14. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top, and tell you in the App if the change is significant.
